Friendly Sea Witch Cauldron

This piece started because I wanted to re-learn how to model more efficiently and teach myself Blender. That wasn't enough to ask of one piece so I also decided to create something from scratch, no concept art (if you don't count my quick idea doodles x-x).

Low and behold I present to you all, the Friendly Sea Witch Cauldron! The idea was to make a cauldron in a setting you don't normally see one. I thought, "Thermal vents are cool and pretty darn hot, that's where I would put a cauldron!" Sooo my final idea was to have a magical starfish that absorbs the thermal energy and converts it to usable heat. Weird but kinda cool!
I am reasonably happy with how this turned out, don't know if my full idea really comes through but it was very fun to play with color and light. I attempted to mix both painted lighting details and PBR materials to get something that takes lighting well, but still has a very distinct style.

I created a Leafy Dragon for this piece as well but he was too noisy and did not flow with the composition. Never fear though, I love him so much he will be getting his own little set up and render very soon <3
